Can no longer connect to iTunes (Mojave) with IOS 14 devices.

I updated to the GM version of IOS 14 and plugged in my IOS device (Xs Max) and was told by a prompt that I must update my mac software to be able to connect. While I get they want their consumers to update to Big Sur, why is it mandatory?

When I switched to the beta, iTunes had me download some patch software to let it work. I’m running. An older version of OS X, I forget which one right now.

Did you not get that prompt?

I never got the prompt, I just got the prompt that something needs to be updated. I never clicked install because it wasn't very clear on what it was doing. But when I was on the beta, it would never backup, Itunes would just crash.

I think that’s what you need to do. I just checked... I’m on High Sierra and just got the prompt, assuming because I’m on GM.

Try the method above. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. A few years ago I was able to sync and backup my iPhone with Leopard.
