When I try to send a new email or use the Sharing option to email a selected web page, it opens up a new email window, though I am not able to select from all of my email accounts that are setup in Mail to designate as the sending account. I go to the drop down that allows you to choose which email account to send from, though all of my accounts will not display.

I have accounts entered in Mail for:
Gmail
Gmail
Yahoo
iMap
iMap
iCloud

I only have access to send email from:

@me.com
@icloud.com
one of my Gmail accounts

It seems to be downloading the mail for all of the accounts. I tried this on a new iMac with El Capitan and on a new Macbook with El Capitan, both have the same problem.

It seems that the first Gmail account works, though when I add the second, it does not show up as an available option for sending emails. And the Yahoo and iMap accounts do not show up as options either.

Any guesses to what is going wrong?

Thanks!

Could be your SMTP servers are not setup correctly. Also, the imap entries look odd (not sure if they are actually associated with an IMAP account, and through which service).

So, I'd go into your Mail's Account settings. Delete the imap accounts/entries. Delete the Gmail account that is not working. And probably the Yahoo account as well.

Then, do a little research on the accounts you do have: visit the services' websites and navigate their help section, to see what the SMTP settings are for them. You might need this information to setup the SMTP servers correctly for each service.

Re-add the accounts you need, per usual. Then, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts. There should be a dropdown list/box for SMTP ("Outgoing Mail Server"). Make sure that is set for each account and correctly for settings. You should be able to click from the dropdown list "Edit SMTP Server List". From the ensuing screen, check the settings for the various SMTP servers you have/need. Might need to change settings for these. Additionally, make sure each service is using correct corresponding SMTP server (ie. Shouldn't be using iCloud SMTP for Gmail accounts).

The SMTP server setup should usually get setup correctly easily for the services listed in the Accounts screen (eg. Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook/Exchange), but can get messed up.

To elaborate on NoBoMac's post the SMTP server list quite often gets screwed up and sometimes starting over is the quickest way to proceed. I have fixed that issue many times (for IMAP accounts) by deleting all the servers at "Edit SMTP Server List", then deleting the Email accounts, then deleting all the associated password keychain entries and THEN starting over with adding the email accounts...one by one...with receiving and sending tests to make sure they work.

I just discovered that if I go through my list of email accounts on the left panel of Mail, and click on one of the folders inside a given account, and than open a new message, I am able to send the email from that account, but than my other Gmail account is not available. When I click on the folder for the other Gmail account it becomes an options for sending an email from that account, though than the other Gmail account is not available. When I go to the main inbox no Gmail accounts are available and only the .me and icloud account are available options for sending email. I deleted one of the Gmail accounts and re-added it and the same thing happened. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.
