I just switched from Firefox to safari, and one annoying thing I've found is that when I'm watching videos in a tab, if I switch to another tab, it automatically pauses the video. I did a little searching on this, and every hit I found seemed to be focusing on YouTube, and I'm looking for a more general answer than that.

basically, I'll be watching a video of a certain nature, and if it currently isn't super exciting, I'll switch to another tab to read some news or something. If I hear something from the video that sounds interesting, I'll switch back to that tab. Works fine in Firefox. Not so in safari :(

Hold on wait... On the Mac? Not iOS? Because macOS' default behaviour is that it should continue to play
Hmm, yeah this is on Mac. It definitely always pauses when I switch tabs :(

BUT, I just did some more testing, and maybe it's a site by site issue .. twitter videos still play in the background. Videos on newTumbl (lol) do not.
I'll keep testing I guess, maybe there's something with that particular site that's coded wrong?

Wouldn't know; Never heard of newTumbl before - Could also be intended behaviour from the site developers that Firefox doesn't respect I guess.
I quickly tried to see if I could find a video on there to test, but I just saw pictures.

Yeah, I'm going to get in contact with them, and ask them which is the expected behavior. thanks!
