My phone fell in the pool. It is currently sitting in a bag of rice but I am not too optimistic. I have a contract with att and I am not eligible for an upgrade on the line that fell in the pool. I do however have an upgrade on an additional line.

Can I use that upgrade on my line? And how?

As far as buying a phone off eBay...how does that work? I have searched the forums a little but came away more confused then before.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can use your other lines upgrade for your number. You will just be starting a contract or Next payment with the other line however. AT&T allows you to complete this process online (they will send you the phone you choose), or you can go into a AT&T store and they can process the upgrade for you. They have made this much simpler from when I worked there.

As far as buying a phone off of eBay....I would say just be cautious. You will want to make sure that the phone you pick will work on the AT&T GSM/UMTS or T-Mobile networks. I believe it is the 1900 MHz & 850 MHz band for AT&T. I believe T-Mobile is 2100 &/or 2600 MHz. Once you receive the phone (if you purchase this route) you would just pop your SIM card in from your phone that went swimming and you will be up and running, as long as the SIM card is the correct size (micro/nano etc).

Let me know if you have other questions.

If you log into your online AT&T account, you should be brought to the 'Overview' page. In the lower box it should show each of the phones on your account.

Click on your line (phone that went swimming) - it will take you to a 'Upgrade eligibility' window.

Here you can select the option to 'use someone else's eligibility' - from here you will just follow the screens (I assume, as I have not yet done it since they updated the site. I have always done mine in store or over the phone).

That is disappointing when you see your phone in the water. Good thing you have that other line in which you could use. Just try to search online about what to do. Oh! and try using vpn to be safe.

David, can I ask why he would need to use vpn? Just curious. Thanks
