Hello. As I said I’ve never owned a MacBook before, I am very interested in trying one but there are a few things I’ve been figuring out first.

Is it possible to completely switch the FN and control keys on the MacBook’s keyboard? Meaning pressing the control key would behave as the FN key and vice versa.

My girlfriend had a MBP 16” and I was not able to do it on hers. This seems minor but it’s very important to me as the control key not being in the bottom corner completely throws me off.

Yes I have fn and control swapped. I use Karabiner, which works pretty seamlessly. Though from the link above, it seems like you might be able to do this in Terminal.

I also physically swapped the keycaps:

Yes, without any software purchasing.
in system preferences shortcuts keyboard.
Karabiner also has a software that changes keys to any you prefer.

I think so, I don't use big sur, but i'm sure other members can answer that ?
now, the M1 MacBook pro does not have FN keys but a ribbon touch pad instead.
OSX daily and macworld published articles on how to exchange key commands this year.

M1 MBP can have Fn keys on the ribbon as default everywhere - or in selected apps only (like games)...
Its changed in System Preferences...
