I have the Mac mini 2018 with 128 GB drive. I got an external 2TB drive to use as a Boot Disk and then wanted to to turn the Internal (128gb) into Bootcamp. In order to create the bootcamp I also had to install Catalina onto the internal as well. I named that partition SCRATCH but for some reason Catalina is saying I have 2 Scratch drives now. So currently I only use Catalina on the 2TB external as a boot drive and Bootcamp on the INTERNAL drive. Bootcamp drive is out of space so can I now delete the SCRATCH catalina internal drive partition and use that space for BOOTCAMP? There is also another partition with 20gb on it but I don’t even know what that is. I also created a windows partition on the EXTERNAL 2TB drive to install big programs on but as I mentioned the Bootcamp internal is out of space for windows stuff so id like to clean this up a bit. What are my options. Disk Utility photo attached.

What kind of external drive did you get?

You DO understand that the internal SSD on a 2018 Mini is far faster than ANY external SSD, except for thunderbolt3 SSDs, right...?

The internal drive should be used for the OS, apps, and "basic accounts" (no "large libraries", which can be stored on the external drive).

I've never used BootCamp, and I believe it's probably best to use "an emulated solution" for Windows instead, such as Parallels, VMWare Fusion, or the free Virtual Box...

my opinions only...

I use a Inland SSD inside a Thunderbolt 3 emcoluser. it runs at 2500 read and 1900 write. Cant really tell the difference between internal and external speeds and ive been using the internal for almost a year.

The emulated solution would work but I don't know yet if ill be using more power hungry windows applications in the future like Adobe products so I went with bootcamp and it runs quite well. Also I want to take full advantage of all the Ram I put in to this and Paralleas limits you to 4gb unless you subscribe to their software which isn't worth the price for me with my current limited use of windows
