Can someone help me with Intel & AMD CPUs?

My son wants to get into recording his Xbox game play. I am looking at the Roxio Game Capture device. It requires an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz or AMD Athlon x2 64 2.0Ghz.

I'm seeing Intel Pentium Dual-Core P6200 and AMD A6 1.4Ghz, AMD E-300, AMD 3-350.

Are these chips better or worse than Athlon x2 and Core 2 Duo?

The old Core 2 Duo is much better than all those CPUs.

Try an i3, i5 for something modern.

The Pentium should be about the speed of the spec CPUs.
The A6 might match in total performance, but I'm not so sure if the program only runs only one or two threads (the A6 is quad core).

The E Fusion CPU speeds are at the Atom level, below.

Those AMD CPUs are latest generation.

Pentium is a current brand for lower performance CPUs with the fast cores.

Just to make it clear, I would look for a CPU with at least 2 cores, where one core is guaranteed to be a bit faster than one core from the specs.

Ok, so Roxio Game Capture device and software requires a Core 2 Duo 2Ghz.

Would an Intel® Pentium® processor B950 w/ 2MB L3 cache and 2.1GHz processor speed be just as good or better than the C2D?

If my son is going to be caputring game footage from Xbox, can he get by with the B950 or do I have to move up to an i3?

It seems the B950 is about as fast as a 2.3GHz Core 2 Duo.

The i3 330M has 5% more Windows 7 Experience Index. Caveat: the 370M is below is some other benchmark, so inconclusive.
