I did the pkgbackup update yesterday too but my cydia runs fine.
you could try reinstalling cydia heres the deb file
http://apt.saurik.com/debs/cydia_1.0.2797-47_iphoneos-arm.deb
ssh into your device, copy the deb file and run this command
dpkg -i cydia_1.0.2797-47_iphoneos-arm.deb
This should be a last resort. Cydia will lose track of all your installed packages. Better to back your packages up in PkgBackup and then restore.
EDIT: Just as I thought. Cydia was being stupid yesterday. Working fine for me now, thank god.
EDIT2: Having problems. PkgBackup says I only have 5 packages, but I can restore to have 70. Should I do that or hit backup anyways? (everything is working fine)
this happened 2 weeks ago to me. i did 50 diff things and nothin. worked. you need to clean restore

So I have tried all of this because Cydia would crash instantly on launch.
Has anyone else had the instant launch problem today? I havent installed anything new, except the PkgBackup update yesterday...
