Ok I have a jailbroke iphone 2G that I have been tring to unlock with no luck. I have downloaded quickpwn, the 2.1 firmware and the 3.9 and 4.6 bootloaders. I restored the iphone with the new downloaded 2.1 firmware. I then put the new 2.1 firmware in the same file with the bootloaders and quickpwn and run quickpwn. Follow the instructions to the letter and check off the unlock box and install cydia. Everything goes really well and the jailbreak is successful but upon iphone re booting I get the message below and the unlock does not work. When I put in the t-mobile sim the iphone says "a different sim card is detected please plug into itunes" When you plug into itunes it says the iphone will not work with the inserted sim card. I have downloaded uninstalled and redownloaded all the software at least 4 times with same result. I am out of ideas any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: Not sure if this matters but the iphone does not have any service since I upgraded to the 3G. Trying to unlock for my wife to use on t-mobile.

The iPhone 3G cannot be unlocked. That's part of the issue. And for the first-gen iPhone, make sure it absolutely DOES have the unlock option selected.

And the iPhone will say "No Service" with the original SIM that you had in it because it's been deactivated.

Thank you for the response. I am not trying to unlock my 3G I am trying to unlock my 2g that was deactivated when I upgraded to my 3G. I am sure that the unlock is checked when using quickpwn. It seems that quickpwn will only unlock your iPhone 2G if it's already activated. If it has been deactivated then quickpwn does not work to unlock. Does this sound right?

Put the sim card from your 3G into the 2G phone, and see what that does.

ya I tried that. Since the 2G and 3G plans are different you would first have to change back to a 2G plan for it to work. It also said I would lose and not be able to get back my fan discount. I dicided not to go that route.

People are abusing QuickPwn. Please just use PwnageTool. You now have an unusual situation that can't be solved 'QuickPwnly.'

i 100% agree with you with all the people complaining that quickpwn isnt working correctly
try pwnagetool first
i find it to be a lot more reliable

I don't have a mac so pwnagetool is out. I would use winpwn but I think it only supports up to 2.0.2 and I don't know how to downgrade. Can you downgrade from 2.1 to 2.0.2 ?

If you follow this tutorial, I guarantee it will work to unlock your 2G phone. I just did this for the first time about a month ago and it was very easy.

The most important thing NOT to miss is in the General settings step about...

"The General settings allows you to decide the partition size. Click activate the phone and Disable partition wipe-out. Click the blue arrow button.
***IF the Enable Baseband checkbox is not greyed out, checkmark it. This will allow the unlock to occur!***"

Just follow it step-by-step and you'll have an unlocked iPhone!

Thanks but that tutorial is for a mac and all I have is windows. Any ideas for windows?

Here is the link for Windows.

Thanks but if you read my OP quickpwn is what I am having a problem with. I go through the whole process exatly as outlined in that tuturial and the jailbreak works but when the iPhone re boots I get the screen shown in the OP and when I put in the t-mobile sim it says different sim card detected plug into itunes. I have downloaded, uninstalled and restored at least 4 times but same result every time. I think its because the phone has not been active since I upgraded to the 3G but not sure.
