Trying to understand where pro and pro max stack up against 11 battery wise, and I guess specifically XR (the phone I would be coming from *if* hypothetically I were to upgrade, also assuming XR->11 isn't a quantum leap in battery life) but since they all obfuscate real figures pretty dang decently imo, referencing older models and going back and back without any direct comparisons, and it's making my tired head spin already.

...Also when they talk about 'more' as the first battery spec, are they talking about overall mixed use since there is no asterisk with clarification? What would you assume? its hard for me to say since they have wireless video which I assume is video over wifi as a bullet point, then omitted on 11 spec's and compared to stream video instead which I assume to be cellular but don’t really know . It's all so very odd to me.

I've at least gone through the minimal effort of screenshotting models in their respective tiers, ugly as it is, so you don't have to tab like crazy on Apple's site / go to cached Apple pages for the models not sold or on their site anymore (X/XS), etc.

First one as the name of the jpeg indicates, Is specifically X (in white) at bottom, XS/Max top left, Pro/Pro Max top right.

Second is 8Plus left, XR middle (in black), 11 on right.

Thanks in advance, and good luck!

edit-
main observation I can takeaway is that 11Pro narrowly beats 11 (from video wifi?? comparison, probably one of the worst gauges, since I do text/internet/selective handful of apps no gaming really, mostly), and 11Pro max smokes it. 17/18/20hours respectively (11/Pro/ProMax) and 16hrs for XR, so from that aspect going XR to Pro Max would be a 25% increase in video watching battery life which is impressive.. though again a metric that doesn't really pertain to my general use, since XR is an excellent gold standard of battery life. Its the first iPhone battery that truly feels great imo, at least since peak Plus battery but even beyond that .

I wouldn't spend too much time fretting over it. By the way they stated battery life on the new phones, it appears that the new phones will last a "little bit" longer on a charge than their predecessors. Apple tests the battery under controlled testing criteria that likely has little to do with how a person actually uses their phone.

Think of it like the CPU upgrade on the A13. It'll be a little bit better than the previous generation.

Im just wondering how XR would compare to Pro's really, as my main convoluted curiosity. As far as I can tell, Xr to 11 alone seems like nothing to write home about on battery front. Which is fine, but I would just be giddy by something thats like XR on steroids, which already feels like a phone on battery life steroids.

I wish during the keynote, they had some solid comparisons to XR as the benchmark for Pro's, but I am kinda assuming since they don't they won't edge it that much if at all. A lot of people feel the same too, that XR is like the new level of iPhone battery life as a standard. That's why I tossed my X personally.

I wish I could decipher their hieroglyphics, but I guess I’ll stick to tings I know about like hot wings and beer. Seriously though, I can’t wait for the videos of real world use to start popping up to get a sense of what to realistically expect.

Field will of course be the only way to really tell, but man does Apple purposefully make it impossible
