Hi,

I have been struggling for some time to block ads from YouTube and Google with Safari.

Been trying: UBlock Origin, Adblock, Adblock Plus, and now also AdGuard and 1Blocker.

All with the same results: Ads are popping up anyways!!

Any tips or way to actually get these to work, or have Google now managed / programmed new to trick ALL Adblockers in Safari ?

Hmm.. didnt work either.

I have one warning message for all these plugins:

"xxPluginxx does not have permission to read or transfer content from any webpage"

Might this be the issue ? How do I get beyond or fix this if so??

Found this for Adblock:

"Are the sites in a language other than English?

Currently the AdBlock app only blocks ads well on English-language websites. The filter lists that block and hide ads must be converted to Apple's content blocking syntax for use with the new generation of Safari content blockers. Converting the filter lists is complicated. So far, we have been able to convert only EasyList, the list that blocks and hides ads on English-language sites.

We plan to add filter lists for more languages over the coming months. In the meantime, you may want to visit non-English sites in Chrome or Firefox, where AdBlock includes filter lists for non-English languages."

Might be the issue since my ads are not in english..! checking up on this now

Use Duckduckgo as your search engine.
That get's rid of the Google problem.
Under settings, privacy choose to play video in Duckduckgo.
Search for what you want and go to the video tab.
If you click on the thumbnail it will play it in Duckduckgo anonymously without ads.
If you click on the link you will be taken to Youtube and it will play ads as usual.

When the add pops up, note the URL. Copy it or enter it in the blocked sites on your router. Other suggestion is to block or disable Java.

Check the whitelist for those you have tried and make sure google ads/Youbube isn't in there. Some ad blockers whitelist some ad companies now. I have adguard and it works great.

SNIP

If you're getting that message from Safari > Preferences > Extensions, that's an OS/Safari notation telling you that the extension cannot see your content. It's a privacy mechanism.

The entirety of the following thread may be helpful to you. The link is to post #44 because it shows the notation you'd see for one that can see your content. The next post after it, by @Weaselboy, gives a succinct explanation as to the why.
