Question is the thread name -

My last MBP was a mid-2014 the highest end version at that time - it got super hot (not touchable) in normal usage and eventually warped the case from battery bulge and broke the touchpad.

Can a new 16” M1 Max 10 core run without getting hot in normal use? what about fan noise at higher loads?

Depending on what you consider 'normal use' the base model M1 Macbook Air would likely not get hot like the older Intel MBPs would. The new M1 Pro and Max devices should handle any load that had previously pushed a 2014 MBP with relative ease. These processors are significantly improved over the older Intel offerings.

MacBook Pro with M1 chip is my new AC for summer use to be honest. Too cold for winter use.
