I have not been able to find this online.

Can the iPad Air 5 display video in HDR?

So if, say, I record HDR video on my iPhone 12 Pro and then transfer it to this iPad, will the display brighten enough for it to display at least somewhat HDR-ish? Or is this really a contrast issue and the LCD display just can’t do what mini-LCD or OLED can do.

I know someone with a 2018 iPad Pro and it does brighten with HDR content even though it has an slightly older display technology.

I’m just trying to find out where the iPad Air 5 fits within the spectrum of HDR displaying ability. Thanks.

No. The only iPad capable of displaying HDR content is the 12.9" pro.
The 11" ipad pro can also display HDR (But of cause it not as bright as the 12.9 pro)

Am pretty sure the ipad air can also display HDR but i not confirmed this myself yet.

HDR is not defined by increased brightness range. You can see HDR to a less degree using YouTube watching a 4K HDR VP9 video on a iPad mini 6. HDR10 is not just about max brightness it about the increased range of colors available.

To be able to display HDR10 the display should be at least 500 nits, and support Wide color display (P3)
