I'm going to Best Buy tonight and I may pick up an iPad so I was curious.

Yes, but be aware that I only got 29mbps download on 5GHz...

LOL

Yes, it works and works very nicely at 5GHz.

I agree. The iPad works great at 5 GHz. My internet speed is 30 Mbps tops and the iPad peaks at about 28.

...... and your internet speed is????

12 mbps sustained but Comcast gets short bursts of 30 mbps or so.

So, it's likely maxing out due to Internet bandwidth.

Bottom line, it's plenty high.

well yea of course you're only gonna hit that!

idk if you can attempt to transfer files over the network or something, or stream movies etc, but that will indicate the true speeds - probably somewhere around 250mbps is theoretical.

No, you don't need anywhere near that sort of BW to stream content.

I've been streaming 720p to my iPad and it's not anywhere near that.

Again, bottom line, it's plenty fast enough. Don't get caught up in specs.

I connect to my N Band Time Capsule at 39mbit, and to the G Band at 54mbit. Very odd, but I has no connection issuez.

i am WELL aware of the bandwidth needed to stream content. 1080P requires 5MB/s, or 40Mb/s ;)

i stated the most likely theoretical limit of the iPad - assuming that most of the power requirements are still there of course.

I am using a Linksys WRT610N and connecting to the 5GHz band with no problems at all. During speed tests with the SpeedTest.net App I was receiving 10Mbits. I am using a 40Mbit connection.

ive read that one before, i reckon SpeedTest.net app hasnt been correctly optimised for the ipad - maybe the emulator isnt working or something.. who knows.
