Can the Pencil potentially be used as a cursor?

Can the new Pencil potentially be used as a cursor in text based apps like Pages, Ulysses etc..? To select, copy and paste? If so, that would be huge- kind of like a mouse for precision editing.
 
Yes thats possible with the pencil. You can use it to tap and select things.
