I haven't upgraded anything to Catalina yet, but I remember I heard rumors a few months ago that the watch would be able to unlock more things in Catalina. I have an iMac and an Watch, and I love that the watch can login my to the computer. But can it now do more now? E.g. login to 1Password (if the app supports it)?

That's a feature I would love to see implemented. Not sure if the 1Password team will do this though...

Apple Watch now unlocks system admin dialogs. Very nice on a Mac Pro that does not have a finger sensor.
I find it easier and more reliable than the finger sensor.

this is whats confusing me. its not on mine. I have watch os 6 on my AW3, and the latest beta of Catalina on a 2017 imac, and I am constantly getting admin dialog boxes, mainly for every app being allowed access to removable drives.

I was expecting my watch to be able to unlock it, and it to be easier than in Mojave, but in fact its more annoying. the dialog box also asks my username so I have to type that, tab, type password, and no mention of allowing me to use my watch.

the only time my watch has done anything for my mac since installing, is when my mac is locked waiting on my password, and that only happens when I log in from work with teamviewer, when I log back out it has always then put my mac locked asking for password, and I noticed yesterday when I came home that the minute I walked close to the mac it unlocked.

Which AppleWatch is required for Approve from Apple Watch? Mine unlocks the Mac, but can't do anything apart from approving Apple Pay. It is not even showing as an option in the settings of the Mac. Apple Watch series 0 here.

I would guess that the new additional unlock with watch would require the latest watchOS 6 older models possibly still locked to older features but I could be wrong with that guess

You need to be on watchOS 6, so the series 0 won’t work.
