Can this damage your iPhone's battery?

Ok so today i updated to the new 2.0 firmware. In order for me to get that thing to work i had to connect and disconnect my iphone from my computer at least 200 times.... but now its working! I’m just wondering if connecting and disconnecting the iphone too much will damage the battery.

No, but you didn't have to unplug/plug your iPhone. All you had to do was was in iTune click on your music and then back to your iPhone to re-connect to iTunes.
