I just purchased FCE and I wanted to experiment around with it. I filmed my MBP and made a short little 'promo/demo' video of it. I think it looks pretty cool, and I was wondering if there was any way for making this video play on startup when i turn on my mbp. I think it would be hilarious for that to happen. I can't post the video because it's too big a file, but if i can compress it i'll show it.

I just dragged a .pdf to my Login Items (inside of Accounts, which is inside of System Preferences). I can't restart right now, but the fact that it accepted it makes be believe that the file will open when I login next.
If you wanted the video to start before the OS loads, though, I don't think that is possible.
