Hi I just bought a new iMac 27 and thought I could use the touchpad from my 2013 iMac but the new iMac doesn't seem to recognize it??
Do I have to buy a new touchpad for my 2017 27inch iMac?? or can something be done to get it to recognize the one I have?

I assume you meant Magic Trackpad, especially the one with the round part at the op where the 2xAA batteries go?

You should un-pair it with the old system first and it will be ready to connect. If the old system is not available, then make sure bluetooth pairing is set on your new system, press and hold the on switch for at least 5 seconds until the light on the top of the trackpad flashes green and you should be able to pair on your new system.
