Can turn to but not return from Win 10, unsupported Mac Pro

Hi!

I have to ask. I have High Sierra in bay 1, Windows 10 in bay 2 and both are on SSD. I can change system in preference on OSX but I can not return from Windows to OSX. The BootCamp app in win 10 seems ok, everything is working and the system shuts down, as expected. But I do reboot back in windows 10 directly. I have to shut down the computer entirely and the boot back up with "alt-key" and choose OSX. It is like my Mac Pro does not know where to look for system, or stuck. (Done the "alt-cmd-P-R-key" reboot, but no luck), and I change the Motherboard battery.

Does anybody, of you "deep knowing people", know what I'm talking about? Is it fixable?

It is quite possible that it doesn't know where to look if your High Sierra installation converted your SSD to APFS.

There are two options.
1. Boot by holding Alt key, you don't have to shut down your Mac for this, just hold it during restart.
2. BootChamp app + SIP disabled will boot into Windows and on next reboot it will bring you back to macOS.

I had this exact issue with my Mac. Funny enough I tried everything until my wits end and then finally tried swapping the physical drives (swap windows drive to bay 1 and OSX to bay 2) and it worked great after that.
 
The bootcamp application in Windows cannot a) read APFS drives or b) read from Apple Pro Raid.

What you need to do is switch hard disks by using the Bless command from the terminal, and send the '-nextonly' flag, ensuring that if you power down Windows, you'll reboot in MacOS. If you have boot screens, you can also just hold alt and select the startup disk.

The command is slightly different based on if you have a Bootcamp (Bios) install of Windows or a EFI install. Also, you may want to uninstall the Bootcamp application on Windows, which can interfere with what the active boot disk is upon login.

@mgmtm3: I tried to swap the bay 1 for bay 2 but no luck.

@eksu: I quite do not understand. I search the net and found

"sudo bless --device /dev/disk3s2 --legacy --setboot --nextonly reboot"

but got an error like

"Could not set boot device property: 0xe00002bc"

It has something to do with SIP and here do my terminal/Unix knowledge ends. I still reboot with 'alt-key' in Windows. Works but irritating. Thanks guys/girls!

Hold option key,
Once presented with the boot icons, select the macintosh drive and hold the crontrol key, the arrow animation will change and you can press enter to bless the drive that way.

Doing this will mean it will boot to Mac by default and you can use option key to boot to windows.

With Paragon APFS Windows will see the drive and you can copy files FROM it. But it is read only so you cannot write anything to the disk.

Also the Boot Camp Control Panel will NOT SHOW the disk to allow you to set it as boot drive.

I use Boot Champ for this (with SIP disabled) and it works fine for booting into windows without changing the default boot disk. You just do a restart in windows and it boots back into macOS.
