iOS Can u Develop Ipod Applications only on a mac? (sorry for newb question)

but is it possible to make applications for the iphone/touch on a PC?

if so, whats the most popular program used to do this

Why? Apple simply provide the tools they use themselves. They don't use PCs (obviously) so there is no SDK/environment for the PC.

It's not a newb question. Many people were under the impression of that. Considering the actual SDK part of the download is probably no more than 50 MB, it seems easy to port. The larger portion of the download are the IDEs and tools.

Porting the SDK wouldn't take too long. It's porting all those tools that wouldn't be worth it. In the time it would take to port over those tools, most serious developers would have saved enough to purchase a mac mini (though not all, unfortunately).
