iPod Can We Edit Release Date Tag Info?

Subject heading says it all. I want to be able to edit the Release Date portion of the ID Tags. Is there a way to do this?

If you're referring to the album release date, you can only do it when the CD is inserted. Release dates of individual tracks can be edited at any time with "Cmd + I".

No, I'm not referring to the "Date" field. I want to edit the "Release Date" field, which (to the best of my knowledge) is only entered for Apple purchases--and not even all of those.

You can't change it easily, I have a program for video file tagging that lets you change it, but the format is set up oddly, since it was made for podcasts. you have to enter dd:mm:yyyy I think, or something like that. I couldn't get the program to work with audio files though, just video. It'd be a handy tag for people like me who fill out obsessive amounts of metadata on their files.
