I was just wondering if anyone's checked in at an Apple Store to see if they can now reserve the 3G version since we finally have a release date. Anyone know?

I do not think they reserve any new products. You just need to be there.

Have you called the Apple Store?

I called the one closest to me and they guy that answered the phone didn't even know that April 30th was the date they'd be available. He told me to try calling again tomorrow. LOL!

One could reserve the Wi-Fi iPad.

So you can just call the store and say "how about saving me a 3G when they get in?"

The reserved WiFi units were ordered over the Internet but I do not see this happening now.

...has anyone just tried to get on the "Store" page on Apple.com just now? 12:50pm cst 04.20.10

I can't get it to load. I was wondering if there was an update to the online store?

With the wifi version, you went into the store itself and yes, could reserve a unit. You couldnt do it over the internet, you had to reserve it through one of the computers in the store. When the next shipment came in, they would hold it for you, and call you to let you know you could come pick it up.

In fact, I think they're still doing that now since the stores are regulary still out of stock.

I want to know if i can now do this with the 3G. When i asked in the store before, they told me they usually start taking reservations for these sorts of things once a specific date is announced.

Incorrect, you were most certainly able to do it over the internet. You filled out a form online and then you showed up at your local Apple store and they had your iPad on the side with your name on it. You didn't have to place the reservation in-store. It was done online.

Hmm ok, that may be true for the pre order, i didnt try to reserve one until after they were released. Mid-April, I was told by an apple employee that it could only be done in store.

What is wrong with people over this whole reservation process with the iPad 3G? LOL! I too am trying to lock in a reservation at my Apple Store for the 30th. The same thing I did for the launch of the iPad Wifi. You know that option that popped up on several locations of Apples website when the iPad was announced? CLICK HERE TO RESERVE iPad AT YOUR LOCAL APPLE STORE. Sorry for the CAPS but sheesh. It's like everyone has gone all Invasion of the Body Snatchers on this issue. The posters on this board. Apple Sore employees. Yeah, when I called to ask about reserving the iPad 3G they talked up their other reservation process. The one where I can "reserve" an iMac for purchase and schedule that purchase with a genius or salesperson. It's like no one remembered the giant lines at the iPad launch. One which was for Reserve customers and the other which wasn't.

This has been very frustrating waiting for this answer but I think now that Apple has announced the official release date that we will know about possible reservations in the next day or two. At least I hope so anyway as I did not pre order online and do not wish to stand in line for the majority of a Friday afternoon.
