Other Can we talk about the phones with 5G?

Just have a question - if the 12s come out with 5G, will you be able to disable it to where you use 4G/LTE? I have done a lot of reading about 5G, and I’m not really sure how I feel about it. I don’t think it’ll be in my area anytime soon (hell, our 4G service sucks, and we don’t even have an option for normal internet), but I‘m worried about exposure in other places.

Earlier iPhones had an "enable LTE" switch in Settings. I can't see any reason they wouldn't do the same for 5G.

Hi @ssledoux, not sure if this has any of the info you're looking for, but it is informative and if nothing else, helps pass the time. My understanding is that yes, it uses the 4G/LTE in conjunction with the 5G, and solely 4G/LTE when 5G isn't available like when your phone uses 3G when there's no 4G/LTE:

No, 5G isn't going to make your 4G LTE phone obsolete

This transition is different from earlier cellular generation shifts, which means 4G could be useful a lot longer.
