Can you attach a file to a mail via spotlight? That is one of the things I do the most with Alfred at the moment.

Also does mail finally recognise google stars for emails?

Doesn't look like it, there is no right click context menu for spotlight.

handy feature

NOT (yet) in Yosemite! In Mavericks I use this handy feature at lot just by dragging from the Spotlight "found list" to an email.

Even with that feature it still wouldn't be able to touch Alfred in terms of usefulness.
