Can you believe it? Got a lens BEFORE the camera!

Ok, so I haven't had an SLR for about 3 years when i sold my 30D combo (10-22mm, 28-105MKII, 50 f1/.8...). I bought a G9 last summer, but never used it that much as it was frustrating to navigate deep into the menus to do even the simpliest of jobs that an SLR would do.

So I sold my G9 2 days ago, and have literally been obsessed on finding a great deal online. My parents are flying in from Orange County in 2 1/2 weeks, and they haven't been up here in 10 years, and they really have never been to Portland (they lived in Euene). So there is a bit of urgency to get this camera.

So last night, as I am getting ready to call it a night (the girl was mad that i was looking for so long last night), when i just happen to check Craigs List one last time. Low and behold, someone was selling a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 AND a Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 for $400 FOR BOTH, or $250 each. So on a limb, i text him, and the 30 1.4 supposedly is sold, but the 10-20 is NOT.

So if the buyer of the 30mm backs out, I have found the deal of a lifetime! $400 for TWO $400+ lenses? Now i just need to find a sweet deal on an XSI, lol

sweet deal, the 10-20mm sigma is great if it's a sharp model, I love mine, looks like the price your getting it for is Mad, i paid £329 for mine and 3 weeks later Jessops were selling it for £479, so you did well there, if you get the 30mm even better, congrats , now u just need a camera..............

yeah, I still can't believe it. I meet the guy in 3 hours to pick it up. I was originally going to sell the lens once i get the camera and make a quick $100-150, but $250 is a smoking deal that i porbably won't ever find again, and i so miss my 10-22mm, and from my understanding, this lens is just as sharp. I am hoping it is a sharp copy. If i can get the 30mm as well for $400, i will sell that one and make $350-$400 profit

Sigma EX 30mm f/1.4 is probably a keeper so hold your horses and try it out

the guy sold the 30mm . But the 10-20 is nice. I found another deal on CL! a Rebel XT kit (w/lens), 75-300mm III ( cheapo Canon) and a 70-200 f/4L, and some batteries and a sunpak flash for $700! He is selling the 70-200L for $400/OBO. I inquired about it

I am finding more deals like this. The economy, I guess. I could sell the 70-200L for $500 if it is a sharp copy, and in good shape.

Not sure of you bought yet, but if you did not... look into the x1i.... it is a much better camera than the xs or xsi or xti... and it has HD video

you mean the T1i.. I was looking into it, but am on a budget (am buying some lenses) and it has come down between the XSi or a 40D, if i can find one at a good price. I can pick up an XSi (with the live.com cash back) for about $430 new. With lens kit, it is about $500. I can live with the XSi for now, and then upgrade at a later date! I already have the magnificent 10-20mm (I still have my 77mm filters from my 10-22mm i sold, crazy!!), and will probably pick up the 55-250mmIS. It is getting RAVE reviews and is sold out at 2 of the Pro photo shops here in downtown Portland... $200 online new

The HD video IS tempting, but i dont do video that much. It is fun to mess around with though, I wont lie!
