No you can't use cash, stop selling drugs.

I've paid cash @ the Corp AT&T stores for all 3 iPhone puchases. 2g, 3g(x2) and 3GS No questions asked.

I suspect if the :apple: store plays hardball you can still pay cash aka buy the gift card with cash then use the gift card to buy the phone.

At the apple store I paid cash. The sales associate sold me a gift card for the exact value of the 3g s and then that was used to pay for the phone.

When you pay cash, the apple employee puts the money onto a gift card. Then he swipes the gift card through the register. That acts as another way for you paying for it with cash.

So to answer it blatantly, yes you can pay with cash.

When I purchased my 3G, I paid for it in cash at the AT&T store, but it was an upgrade for an account, so they could track it. When I got my 3GS, I used cash and a debit card. Again, it was an upgrade for the account.

If you buy an iPhone at the Apple Store, they're going to ring it up/activate it on one of those little handheld PDA (EasyPay) devices.

EasyPay devices can only accept cards (credit/debit/gift) for payment. They were doing some testing with accepting cash, but that was only a few stores.

So if you walk into an Apple Store with cash and want to buy an iPhone, like others have said, first buy a Gift Card for the amount of the iPhone.
