Sounds stuffed to me.
Whilst the bottom one is covered, cover the top grill. If it makes no difference it’s definitely got a problem.

Grab a toothpick and try cleaning the grille...could be dirty

Happens to mine all the time. I carry it in my pocket. Crud gets in there and plugs it up. use a small brush to clean the speaker, or take it to the Apple Store. They can clean all the ports out.

Same. Definitely lower but could be by design. Two speakers on bottom will sound louder and more clear than the top multi-purpose.

I am beginning to think volume has been tweaked to address the clipping issue.

It's 2018 and this is still a problem. When did the iP8 get a second speaker at the bottom?

Made a genius appt. Compared to another ip8 I tried mine seems lower in volume

I believe the bottom ports on the left side are for looks only, but there is a mic in there, if I recall correctly.
