I am interested in a fully loaded iMac from an apple Store. I know they don't stock them, and they tell you to just order online. I would REALLY rather pay cash. Is it possible to pay cash in an Apple store and have something custom built for pickup?

dsnort is correct. the reason they tell you to do it online is because they can only upgrade the ram in store. other components such as hard drives and video cards cannot be re sold once removed ( neither can ram actually ) so there is no resellable market for the stuff that comes pre-installed in the computer.

so yes. it is cheaper for you to upgrade online.
