Can you get rid of the bell icon on the iPhone 15 Pro Max?

Or is that permanently there when muted?

ooooh they added a mute icon? I m actually happy to hear that. Now bring it to every other iPhone as well please
I actually agree with you! There have been a few occasions where I have muted my iPhone 14 Pro running 16.x and forgotten to unmute it only to miss a call or text.

I for one am glad that indicator is there since there's no longer a physical switch that reflects the status.

For the entire existence of the iPhone, towards the screen has been ring, and towards the back has been silent, and you could easily verify it without taking the phone out of your pocket. We lost that but at least they made the "now muted" haptic really obvious.

You understand there’s an orange line that is visible when the switch is on mute, right?
Yes, but my question still stands… If you’re under the impression that your iPhone is not muted, why would you look at the mute switch? Do you look at your mute switch every time you pick up your iPhone? I don’t!

If I’m in a meeting and my phone is on the table next to me it’s easy enough to take a glance at the switch. Which is why the addition of the icon to the screen is a good thing.

Huh obviously I look at the mute switch in certain situations where the phone really needs to be silent. Obviously.

For instance attending a wedding ceremony, sitting in a meeting, list goes on

Huh? I look at the switch when I want to use it too! And when I know I’ve or remembered using it. My point being for like the 10th time is and was…

Who looks at the mute switch to check its status if when they are under the impression the phone isn’t muted?

What part of that don’t you get? SO, a visual on screen icon is a welcome addition for me! 🙌

Obviously people do, which is why Apple included a visual indicator on the switch to show if it’s muted and, why they’ve now included the screen indicator since that switch is no longer there.

So everyone checks their mute switch every time they pick up their phone just to confirm that their phone isn’t muted… err OK! In this instance, I’m happy to be the odd one out!

My wife is a bit OCD with mute, always and I mean always mute on mute off about 3/4 time before she is happy phone is not muted and she’s of to sleep 😁, I did try explain even when phone is muted alarm clock will ring. Oh and don’t get me with alarms, must be about 30 different ones 🙄

You seem to be under the misapprehension that anyone ever said they check the switch “every time they pick up their phone”. No one said that.
