2. Yes (assuming "Connected' in this case means that you've already done the initial pairing, not that they're both outputting a signal)

Great, regarding #2, I thought maybe since there would be 2 AirPods under my Apple ID and on the same iPhone it would not work.

I didn't think #1 would work, but that would be awesome.

Btw, do you know when the wireless charging AirPods are coming out?

Scenario #1 may be possible with Bluetooth 5.0? Correct me if i'm wrong, which I think I am since I recall some prior-gen Android phones having this feature?

2 yes you can have both paired up in setting but only one pair of airpods can be connected ( using ) at a time.
