Hi.
I am learning writing in c for about 5 weeks. So i tried to make a simple program in the shell gust for fun...!:D:D When i finished, when i gave the gcc command it told me 'command not found''.So i downloaded a program from apple.com with the name MinGW which i thought that it was a kind of compiler(gcc) but as it turned out it wasn't or because when i gave the command gcc again i got the same message.

So,do you have any ideas? What should i do?do i need to download a program or something like that???????????:confused::confused:

Oh,i forgot to mention that i use mac for 3 weeks so i don't really know many things.....Thanks!

You need to install the full Developer Tools (XCode etc) to install gcc. These are provided with all new Macs (on the install DVD) with Leopard (also on the install DVD) or as a free download (you might need to signup for free) from Apple.

My mac runs with Tiger. Is it in the instal dvd?and if there is,do you mean that i have to re-install the whole mac?Or should i just choose which applications i need to install? On the net,you mean this http://developer.apple.com/sdk/ ? Is it ok to download the xcode or isn't enough?

The XCode developer tools, and every tool you will need are on the install DVD on Tiger. Just look them up, I don't remember exactly where they are. And you can install them without having to reinstall the whole OS.

However, you may want to install the latest version of the tools, which is available for a free download if you sign up on the Apple Developers Connection website.
