I have just received my 3,1 Mac pro and its one amazing bit of kit but its like a furnace, seriously the heat is insane. I would like to know if I could install something like corsair AF120's or something to keep temps and noise down?

Maybe not to be looked upon as better than but as an addition to

You should post your system specs in a signature. This way someone may spot an additional source of the heat. eg PCIe cards

If it's the fan(s) making the noise, remove it, spray it out with canned air. While you have the fan out spray it with some lubricant. (the small gap between where it spins) Tried & True!

There are no extras what so ever in my Mac Pro only the Graphics Card. How would I fit the new fans?

Based on your original post, it sounds like you are complaining of the heat being put out by it and not the internal temperatures themselves.

Can you clarify as to which is bothering you??

Also, just to be safe. Try smc fan control to check your internal temps. It's most likely all good inside but just run it to be sure.

Yeah it outputs a crazy amount of heat. I'm running 32C at 499RPM

You must be having a laugh. That's really cool. Mine is always at 40cc @1800rpm.

The actual heat output I was referring to was how much heat the MP gives off not temps, I only included those for reference. With my fans all maxed out I get around 25-26C What are your specs?

Pretty much nothing you can do about that. Even if you crank up your fans, you're simply removing the heat from the computer faster. That heat still has to go somewhere and unfortunately it heats up your room.

My garage is the only place in the house with no AC. That's where my Mac Pro is too. The only things I've been able to do were;

1. Use sleep settings so the computer is not running all day heating the room unnecessarily.
2. Run a window fan in the evenings to suck cold air in from the outside.
