My wife & i both have iTunes accounts & were 3GS owners. We both have the same [free] app - MyFreeCarCheck.

I updated to version 3.7, she's still on 3.5 or whatever it is.

The 3.7 version is horrendous - much less information.

I want to know how i can get 3.5 on my iPhone. I can't go via the backup route as my backups were deleted.

I tried dragging her app into my iPhone using iFunBox, but every time i opened the app, it just crashed, so that didn't work.

Is there another way i can do this?

Are you guys using the same PC to sync app? If not then delete your app and copy her app to your PC and sync it.

If she doesn't have the app in her PC then sync the app from her iPhone to the PC and you can copy it from there.

You don't need to iFunbox. You can just drag the app to iTunes if it's a free app.

If you are using the same AppleID for iTunes purchases, remove the new version of the app from iTunes - to trash
Hook up your wife's phone and do a sync, iTunes will copy the older version from her phone back into iTunes.
Then delete it from your phone and re-sync to get the older version.

Thanks for the replies guys. Hopefully this will help...

We 'sort of' are using the same PC, although we're not using the same iTunes account - we have separate accounts.

It's the same physical machine, although all her iTunes gubbins is stored on one hard drive - along with all her settings etc etc
Mine is on another hard drive - we have a dual boot PC basically & as said, we have our own apple user IDs separate to each other.

Can this still be done then?

Do i go into my apps folder in MyMusic, delete my app, insert her app & then just sync? (as it's a free app)

In worst case scenario you can just crack the app and install it that way.
Don't think you will get any support for that here tough.

MAybe not. I'd just like to know if there's a legal way around this (as in a way that can be discussed on the boards). As i say, the app is free anyway, i just want an old version - the same version my wife has on hers.

No way if using different iTunes accounts
This is the reason I got rid of our separate accounts and now use a single AppleID for iTunes purchases.

It would still be legal to do it with a free app.

delete the current version from your iTunes & iPhone, then copy your wife's version on your iTunes. Sign into her account in the app store of your phone and sync the app from iTunes? I think that should do it?
