I wouldn't. Most developers that I know run it on an external drive, or partition their drive, so that you still have the older OS. I know some others that clone their current install so they can go back to yosemite if they need to.Would you guys say it usable as a everyday computer?

As long as you keep a backup of your computer running non beta software (which i do) i dont see any problems installing El Capitan right over Yosemite (as i have). No major problems so far!Mine is the correct El Capitan.
Yes, you can install it without a developer account.
However, as mentioned above, you should install it in a separate drive partition or an external drive. I risk my data and every other things, install this beta right over previous Yosemite. Don't do what I do.
