I have had the iPod going out the speaker non stop since sat morning. Sounds pretty friggin good. Handles bass well, it doesn't thump, but doesn't crack or get overwhelmed by it either. Half volume sufficient in a quiet setting, max volume is downright loud.

Doesn't even ship with earphones in the box, FWIW. As others have said, built-in speaker works great.
