Can you play AVI's on a jailbroken iPhone 3GS?

With the new jailbreak out I have 2 questions. Is there software that will play AVI's with a tv out functionality. If you jailbreak can you easily restore it to how it was when you first bought it?
 
I know you can restore back, just make sure you have a backup, non-jailbroken. As for the AVI player I'm pretty sure theres an app out there that does it, I just forgot the name.
 
I've found vlc4iphone but not sure if that's still being developed. Anyone know or recommend anything else
