I had a .Mac email address a little over a year ago but never paid to renew it. Can I reactivate it since iCloud gives you a free MobileMe email?

You won't be able to use the @mac.com address, but the Apple ID itself should be still active, so you'll be able to use it with the @me.com address.

I was able to 'move' my .Mac account from MobileMe to iCloud. It works the same whether you use @me or @mac.

If the account is active, yes. Once you've let it become an inactive account for long enough, you lose the @mac.com address.

but what if I only have an inactive @mac.com email address?
How can I regain the email box?

I really like the mac.com email address...

Apparently you can't. I tried to set it up but it says it's in use (yeah no ******, it's mine). If you could you would be prompted when you sign/setup but if not, that address is now gone.
