I think my cousin downloaded an app on his iPod touch that lets him text message (its slow though, and needs a strange phone number).

is this the same on iPad? Can you Instant Message at least? Still - I'm really interested in the text messaging.

Thanks,
J

There is a free AIM app for sure, it works just fine.

There are other universal IM clients, but they are paid and I didn't try them.

There are some SMS apps, but the one I tried didn't seem to work.

I use google voice to sms with ipad works great. The call feature will not work.

TextPlus is really nice for sending free text messages (and the app is free).

IM+ is good for chatting (MSN, Facebook, Yahoo, etc), but it's not free.
