I am looking to trade in my iPad pro 13" but I only see the option for the past models. Does Apple do trade in when the model is still current?

If you live in the US and have a Best Buy sometimes they take current year models and are competitively priced usually.
 
Why would you take such a big hit? Selling privately might give you twice as much?!
