Hi all....Just got a pair of Airpods Pro's. I've seen on one thread here that there's an option to disable Autoplay in Apple Music (even though it didn't work for him...)

I've had a look on my MacBook and my IP11-PM's Music app, and can't even find that option anyway, but it really annoys me when snuggly fitting them in my ears that the Music app fires up, yet I might be wanting to listen to something else.

Any way to stop this happening?

Thanks

I believe the music APP only automatically launch if it was the last APP used when you used wireless headphones. I see the Music APP launch only after it was the last APP used on my iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 15.5

I also use a couple of radio APP's and when they were the last APP I was listening to the Music APP will not auto launch when my phone auto connects to my AirPods. The radio APP's will not auto launch either. The only time I see the Music APP launch upon connection to my AirPods is when it was the last APP used for listening. I suggest you just swipe close the Music APP after you finish with it and it should not auto launch.

Music never auto plays for me when I put in the AirPods, but I would love that.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it never worked (for me). Regardless of whether I swipe away the Music app after playing my tunes or not - and even starting a different app that uses audio output eg. YouTube or something after closing the Music app - as soon as I get the pods out of the case and in my ears the next time, the Music app's playing away. Happens on the phone and my macbook, and it's VERY annoying. Why not just have a toggle in the settings for the option to be on or off! I can't find anything on either device in either the Music app or BT settings...

Believe me....you wouldn't after a day or two. Wanna swap phones? 😆

Today I accidentially clicked on the AirPod sticks when putting them in and obviously the music started playing. I totally forgot about this feature.
So this might be stupid but just in case, could it be possible you are accidentially clicking the sticks when you put them in, and therefore starting the music?

Thanks for the reply... I try to hold the buds at the bulbous 'ear-end' rather than the stalks, but as I nestle them into position, the music always starts playing. Mega-annoying!

Hi, yeah, thanks for the link. I've actually seen it (or a similar article) before, when trying to find a remedy for this issue. My trouble is with it though....there IS no autoplay icon - just Shuffle & Repeat icons! Cheers anyway.

Useless link for a freaking infuriating problem! I can’t believe there’s no simple toggle to disable Apple Music autoplay when AirPod is inserted. This is the kind of annoying stupidity that can turn a loyal customer into an antagonist.</rant>

Mine don't autoplay either unless you accidentally click the stem when putting them in. You can hear the click if you listen for it and it happens to me if I try to secure the Pros with too much force when putting them in..

Does it also auto play with Spotify? That’s the music App I use & it doesn’t. I’m pretty sure Apple Music also doesn‘t do it, as well as all my other entertainment Apps.

Edit…
The only time it auto plays is when I’m already playing something on the device speakers & then plug the AirPods in.

THANK YOU. I cannot believe they still haven't added a toggle in the airpods settings to select "Please don't blast music as soon as inserted, I'm probably about to join a google meet for work". Infuriating for such an expensive set of headphones (work bought them, not me!).

Edit: I also love that every answer I found on apple's support page is to turn off the feature to auto-connect. Come on, I want to be able to automatically connect to my device without listening to music immediately, folks. -_-

Second edit: The "autoplay" button is the little infinity sign at the top of the "playing next" list in the miniplayer. Definitely did not know what I was looking for and had to do some googling, so I thought I'd save future people the trouble.
