When I open Maps, if I haven’t used it for a few minutes it automatically starts finding me a route home. I appreciate the idea, but it’s usually not what I want and it slows down searching for what I’m actually looking for (since I now have to exit out of the route home search).

Is there a way to turn this behaviour off?

UPDATE: Still confirming, but this behaviour might only be when you open Maps from the widget. Question is the same though - can you disable this behaviour?

I've noticed this behavior in CarPlay. I've never tried to turn it off, because probably half the time I am wanting to go home - and yes, I know how to get there ;) but using Maps alerts me to accidents, closures, speed traps, and sharing ETA.

Tapping out of it when I don't want it is simpler than "routing to home" when I do want it, so personally I'm fine with the behavior. Offhand I don't see an option to enable/disable it so probably apple.com/feedback

Pretty sure this is the “significant locations” setting buried deep in the privacy and security settings. Turn it off, clear the data, and it should never ask for location based suggestions.

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations

Yes, that fixes it, thanks!

It’d be nice if you could disable this feature without turning that off. I’d be happy for iOS to learn and suggest locations for me, just not to preload the suggested route.
