Can you turn off the huge titles?

Example, the huge “All Inboxes” title when I open Mail. What the heck!?!? Waste of space. Or “Messages” etc

Unfortunately for those with smaller screens (and larger screens), you do not have the option to turn them off. I believe they were added in to account for the status bar UI in the iPhone X. I know that people don't like them in many instances. I think it's a combination of designing for the newest device, and carrying over the Apple Music UI to the rest of iOS.

Nope. That is the design of iOS 11. This "theme" was previewed when they revamped the Music app. Now, the platform is consistent across all default apps. I don't like the large titles and extra white space either, but not much we can do. Just have to get used to it. I have an 7 and don't really want to go to bigger device, but I may have to since the titles take up almost 1/2 my screen.
