Can you use a external drive with Boot Camp?

I have an external firewire drive and would like to use it as a Windows drive for Boot Camp. Is there any way I can go about doing this or if not if there are any ideas if Boot Camp in the future will allow this in the future?

AFAIK, you cannot do this.

I doubt Apple has any plans to allow this in the future.

What I do not know, is if you have a PowerMac and you create a Boot Camp partition, can you take the HD out and use it as an external one. Maybe someone else has tried this.

Windows doesn't like booting from a removable drive, which isn't Apple's fault.

You can make it work with a lot of effort on MacBooks and Mac Pros, but not iMacs or MacBook Pros.

OOPS!

They haven't been updated in so long I forgot about them.

I guess a mini would be somewhere in between since it is at least conceivable for mere mortals to remove the HDD during the install.
