Hi,

I have found a code for 10% off a specific app that an advertisement has given. If I go directly to the app’s website I can use it by doing the usual clicking on promo code and entering it.

But this app is also in the Mac App Store (which I’d prefer to buy from) but I have nowhere that I can see to put the promo code in on the Mac App Store when I go to purchase it. The only similar link is clicking on ‘redeem’ but that I think is for iTunes gift cards.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

The 'redeem' method is for promo codes and gift cards. Have you tried it in there?

However, I suspect your code is not valid for App Store use. Developers can generate lists of promo codes for free downloads, but as far as I remember they're single use. That's to say, if I gave you a code then once you'd redeemed it, it'd become invalid for other people. So, if it's part of an advert intended to be seen by lots of people then it's probably not a Mac App Store code.

You could always contact the app's support folks and ask?
