My friends just ordered a MBP. He keeps everything on external drives (one with games, one with apps, one with music and video...) He's a Windows users and swiching over.

Will he be able to plug the externals in and use then normally? I know you can't install XP on an external, but can you use normal firewire drives?

Thanks

If the drive is formated in FAT32 then there would be no problems. If it's in NTFS, then you would have to reformat for undisturbed use.

YES! As long as they are formatted in windows format (NTFS/FAT32)
There should be no problem.

Thanks, The drives arn't in FAT32, but it's not a problem. The programs and things are all Windows programs and things he's working on with Windows programs. He'll be redoing his media (think he's doing it alrealy), but nothing else until he gets OSX versions of stuff.
