Hey guys...longtime lurker first time poster. First off want to say all of you guys have helped me tremendously in my unlocking adventures...you all are an invaluable resource for iphone info.

Ok enough brown-noseing, here's my question: I have an unlocked/jailbroken 1st gen 16g iphone with winterboard, boss prefs, custom themes, etc already installed. I want to mix & match/add & remove icons and whatnot on the springboard but i seems the only way to do this is through OpenSSH (or some alternative).

Now here's the problem: it seems that my wifi connection isnt strong enough for my iphone to pick up so i cant ssh into it that way. Is there a way to do all of the functions OpenSSH offers without using wifi? Is there a way to use it while the phone is connected via the usb?

Oh yeah, i have a black macbook if that helps.

Thanks

Go to the WiFi icon in your menu bar, and create a virtual network. This will create a signal that your phone can connect to.

+1

Just click on the airport icon in the menu bar, click "create network", and let it do its thing. Then, on your iPhone, connect to the network and you're set.
