I know that there are applications that can do things like take a picture of anyone that moves the move or presses a key. Basically software that is used if you think someone is messing with your computer while you are away. I thought that maybe someone knew of anything like I am looking for, but I guess it is a bit far-fetched. I guess my next thought would be, can I set my iMac to wake itself up at a certain time of day? If so, I could maybe run a script to open up news sites and such in the morning. I sort of dream of having a computer that I could say good morning to and have it serve up my favorite sites like a morning newspaper.

You can use Automator to load a specific URL - or several - and then create an event in ICAL to run the App created at a specific time each day (as the alarm).

Automator is a great toll for this type of thing. It can even convert tect to speech to greet you each morning.

Hmmm, I never knew about that either, so I actually bought an alarm clock:rolleyes:

I wonder if this can really be done. Not exactly sure how I would go about it. I've not seen anything in iCal that looks like it would kick off an app. Can anyone clarify how this would be set up?

ICAL Event Alarm Open File - choose the app/file you want to open.

Or create a script to do more complex things and run the script at the designated alarm time.
