Can your Mac run Metal?

Just curious as to how many out there have a Mac that can run the Metal framework and how many cannot.

As for me, it's unfortunately a no. My mid-2011 mini with the Radeon card can't, but it's still a pretty strong machine.

My 2012 mini can. Will be upgrading to El Cap tonight, so we'll see how it goes.

I have a 2012 i7 (HD4000) mac mini, its supposed to be supported. Before I installed El Capitain I ran Cinebench and then ran it again after installation. There was no difference in graphic performance. Unless i"m missing something ?

I just had a chance to run that Metal test on my laptop and found that the Nvidia 9400M is not supported. Can't say I'm very surprised... I'm just happy that old machine is still officially supported by Apple to run El Capitan and I didn't have to jump through any hoops to install and run it.

I hope they update it. I would love to see how much improvements METAL provides testing with Cinebench. Although I can see for myself the improvements with METAL, its just fun to see Cinebench run the test.

But it's a i7 quad core with 8 Gb and a Samsung SSD. No need to upgrade as of today.

Own imac 21,5 mid 2010 i3 12GBRam, so no, but damn everything is so feels much faster and smoother than Yosemite! (graphics etc)

Really happy, even without this great feature.

I've been pretty happy overall with the upgrade to El Cap. Even without metal, it's a solid OS upgrade and feels less sluggish than Yosemite.

Im happy too.
I tried Yosemite on a 2012 MBP and decided to stay on Maverick.
The upgrade to El Capitan was smooth and fast. Very happy about the new design (compared to Mav) and solid performance.

The iMac appears to be faster under El Capitan, despite the lack of metal support. I do wonder if the lack of metal will eventually justify stopping supported OS X upgrades in the next couple of years.

It'll wind up hurting when games are made under the Metal framework. Those without Metal support are going to wind up either upgrading or wiping their Mac OS partition and using their Windows 10 partition.

I have El Cap on 2 of my 3 Macs. I'm about to install it on my 1,1 Mac Pro. None of these machines can run Metal - as the two MacPros are running the HD5770. Even on my 2009 Mini, the UI is impressively smoother than Yosemite. Maybe I'll upgrade to a Metal-compatible card on the MacPros, but so far I'm not missing it and I'm very happy with El Capitan - can't wait to install it on my 1,1 - these first MacPros were, and still are, amazing machines.
