cinebench in not written in metal.I have a 2012 i7 (HD4000) mac mini, its supposed to be supported. Before I installed El Capitain I ran Cinebench and then ran it again after installation. There was no difference in graphic performance. Unless i"m missing something ?
How do I know if it can run metal?
I hope they update it. I would love to see how much improvements METAL provides testing with Cinebench. Although I can see for myself the improvements with METAL, its just fun to see Cinebench run the test.cinebench in not written in metal.
late 2011 .... can't run Metal.
But it's a i7 quad core with 8 Gb and a Samsung SSD. No need to upgrade as of today.
Im happy too.I've been pretty happy overall with the upgrade to El Cap. Even without metal, it's a solid OS upgrade and feels less sluggish than Yosemite.
2011 iMac, it fails the metal app test posted above. I thought with a dedicated graphics card it would be supported, but I guess not.
The iMac appears to be faster under El Capitan, despite the lack of metal support. I do wonder if the lack of metal will eventually justify stopping supported OS X upgrades in the next couple of years.
