hi all,

have waited some time to send in my and my girlfriends (week thirteen and week eleven respectively) macbook pros, to have the new logic board put on both of them (the strip above the 'F buttons' leading to the speaker grill has also come loose and started peeling on my gf's [possibly due to the heat?]...

when i phoned applecare this evening to have two boxes sent to mail in the mbp's to the depot, the rep informed me that "they dont do that in canada, and my only option was taking it to an apple authorized service provider"...

can anyone confirm or disprove this? i'm not too excited at the prospect of taking $4500 some odd dollars worth of mac into a third party repair site...

any insights appreciated.

I know a person who sent in a PB G4.

Then again, I know a person that had to have a keyboard replaced on his iBook G4, he had his repaired at a reseller.

Hard to say.

I had a problem with my MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz. Its in the depot right now. I live in the Richmond Hill area (Ontario) and they told me to go to the supply depot they wil lnot be sending me a box. I am getting it repaired from MIAD they seems VERY friendly and they are 100% certified with not just Apple computers, IBM and whatever as well. It was a 10 minute drive to Missisauga and it was okay. You should be too. If Apple recommends it then OBVIOUSLY it should not be dangerous.

thanks for all the replies.

im not too concerned, just suprised rather. no big deal.

at least i can tell the tech, face to face, NEW LOGIC BOARD(S) PLEASE.
